Hello! I'm Amanda. I am currently twenty years old and stuck in a small town in Tennessee. I feel that my life is currently in a bind so forgive me if I get whiny on you. I am an extrovert in person but more of an introvert on here. I love having great adventures, both big and small. I would be more than happy if you joined me on one. ☂
Neil Gaiman’s Chilling Christmas Card Story as a Pop-Up Book
By Laura Hudson
In 1989, comics author and novelist Neil Gaiman sent a Christmas card to friends and family that included a very dark take on the story of Santa titled “Nicholas Was…” In the years since it has not only become something of an expensive collector’s item, but also inspiration for fan-made works, including a rather inventive pop-up book pointed out by The Mary Sue. Gaiman challenged readers to create new interpretations of the story last year as well, and you can see the results — which included a puppet version — in a holiday blog post.
New Images From the Live Action ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ Movie Surface
By Caleb Goellner
Rurouni Kenshin fans got their first look at Japan’s live action film last week in the pages of Jump Square magazine with a single image of star Takeru Satoh holding Kenshin’s signature sakabato reverse-bladed katana. The haunted former “Hitokiri BattÅsai” assassin needn’t roam the blogosphere alone now that the film’s staff have released five additional images from the film showing off Satoh and co-star Emi Takei in her Kaoru Kamiya role. Takei and Satoh’s movie looks seem to capture manga creator Nobuhiro Watsuki’s style pretty effectively — especially since Kenshin’s cross-shaped facial scar goes for a more theatrical than “realistic” aesthetic. Rurouni Kenshin is set to arrive in Japan on August 25.
